Hopefully Humorous (and sometimes R-rated) Musings About Life

Oh, We of Little Faith

Yesterday, we received a letter from our sons’ elementary school, addressed as follows:

What has he done this time?

Given Nick’s past behavorial exploits, I opened the letter with quite a bit of trepidation. And a few cuss words, as I wondered aloud how many hours of detention were possible for whatever offense had been committed.  You see…

…we’ve already seen his unintentionally pornographic drawings.  And his fart-laced artwork.

…we’ve been amiss in getting his permanent front tooth fixed, once he “chipped” it by running into a pole.

…we’ve tried to accept that his talents are unique and comical.

…and we know he has a vast and colorful vocabulary.

So, seeing as how the school had seen fit to put the communication in writing, I was just hoping the letter didn’t start with the heading The School Board of Frederick County vs. Nicholas Peter Rice and Parents/Guardians.

But the letter was an even bigger surprise than my husband and I expected.  Nick was most definitely being singled out for his actions.  But not in the way we were thinking:

It’s not a summons – YIPPEE!

Then my husband said “are you sure it’s addressed to the parents of ‘Nicholas Rice’, and not ‘Alexander Rice’?”

Yep. Our faith in our children is unwavering. And we’re hopeful a retraction letter won’t be mailed out anytime soon.
