A Side of Rice

Hopefully Humorous (and sometimes R-rated) Musings About Life

This year, the April showers have brought the Rice family a load of May little league make up games instead of flowers. We have 2 kids, each playing on a different team in a recreational league. The oldest is also playing on a travel team, so it’s “Play Ball!” almost every night of the week.

It’s also “no we can’t go out for dinner because mommy needs to find a job AGAIN” every night of the week. But that’s a story for another blog entry.

In order to be uber-organized, I decided to plot out a schedule of practices, games, try-outs (yes, much to my delight — ‘delight’ is sometimes pronounced ‘dread’ — there are All Star teams once travel and the regular recreational leagues are done) and tournaments for the Rice family. And I can’t forget what I call purgatory-on-earth — concession stand duty*.

*It is recommended that you avoid me on the days when I have concession stand duty. And especially during the first week of the month, when I have earned the nickname “Triple T – The Tampax Terror”.

So, here’s our May schedule:

Did anyone else besides me notice that 75% of the days in May are already spoken for?

Both boys will be trying out for All Star teams. I can’t wait to fill in June and July, especially because there is additional concession stand duty that goes along with that. To quote Triple T — “Freakin’ yipee”.
